Post-Earthquake Travel Update – March 2025
Port Vila is ready to welcome you again
Following the earthquake in December, we’re happy to report that Nasama Resort and the surrounding area are safe, fully operational, and welcoming guests as usual.
If you don’t venture into downtown Port Vila, you likely wouldn’t notice anything has changed. Life around the island continues peacefully, with most shops, cafés, and attractions open and running.
Nasama Resort was unaffected by the earthquake and is open as normal.
We now feel even more central than ever, with new markets and activity hubs spread out across Port Vila.
Shops have popped up along various roads, not just in the CBD.
The Handicraft Market has reopened directly across from Parliament Park in Saralana, and we also have our own handicraft stalls onsite at Nasama.
The famous Central Market has moved across different locations, including Seaside, Tagabe, and Pango – giving visitors more reason to explore.
Popular spots like Nambawan Café are open and ready to serve you in town.
Port Vila’s city centre is gradually reopening, with only a few buildings left to be cleared.
Flights are running as scheduled, roads are in good condition, and the community is as warm and welcoming as ever. There’s truly never been a better time to experience the charm of Vanuatu – and at Nasama, we’re ready to make your stay unforgettable.
